For those of you who remember Frogger from the 80s, youll be glad to know that the frog has just arrived on the digital scene, now ready to challenge fans again at home on the Xbox 360.
True to the original arcade game, you as the frog will be faced with hopping across a treacherous traffic-filled road, fraught with cars and trucks ready to squish! If you make it through alive, its then through an equally dangerous river filled with logs of all sizes and an assortment of frog-eating creatures like snakes, turtles and otters.
The enhanced version of the classic is the default here, which might not be too pleasing to the originals fans because of the new modernized graphics, sounds and absence of the Buckner & Garcia “classic music,” “Froggy’s Lament.” Sadly, even if you do switch to the original look and sound, that old tune is still nowhere to be found. Players can also battle it out with Frogger online, with a choice of different online modes, one of which has the feature of allowing two players to add up points to the same score. However, there have been a few kinks reported by online players of Frogger, mainly complaints of the slower pace of the game which can be irritating to those used to the more exciting arcade speed.
On the whole, with its good pricing and enough features to make arcade fans happy, the new xBox version of Frogger is a great buy.
